Dare to Dream
Dare to Dream
Back in August, 2010, I was a single mum. My eldest child was three, and my youngest one and a half. I had set myself goals. At the time, they were seemingly impossible dreams. I didn’t know if they would really happen in the ten years I had planned, but they were my dreams.
On August 30, 2010 I put up this Facebook post. I dared to dream! The post itself didn’t receive any attention. Maybe Facebook wasn’t as popular back then as it is now. Or maybe all my friends thought I was a dreamer (it’s a frequent description of me – one that I actually love!!)…
At that time, my dream consisted of two or three years travelling the world with my kids. A glimmer of an idea. I knew in my heart I would do it. I just had no idea how or when!!
Fast forward three years, and I travelled to Europe… After this trip, the dream seemed even more impossible then it did when I set it down in 2010. I learned the expense of travel. And that was just for two people. I felt like my dream was beginning to crumble a little. I still kept my faith that the dream would still eventuate. But I had started to believe it would have to be a longer term plan!
Now here I am. Exactly five years from the date of this Facebook post. I am sitting in front of my computer, writing a post on my family travel blog. Ok, so we aren’t officially travelling. Yet. But that is ok. We are only a month or two off paying the last of our debt. And then we can save like crazy for the next 12 to 15 months. We know what we can do. I’ve got so much faith and belief.
It’s sometimes a bit surreal when things like this happen. You put it out there one day. Maybe you believe something will happen. But you aren’t really sure how, or when. And when it does happen, it’s amazing. It’s especially amazing when you get a little reminder like this. It makes you really appreciate how far you have come.
Dream. Dream big. Don’t ever have fear. Have faith. Believe in your dreams. They can, and often do, come true when you believe!
